Imo Police Nabs Supplier of Marijuana to IPOB, ESN Camps

Operatives of Imo State Police Command have arrested a 51 year-old-man, identified as Friday Ndimma for allegedly selling Indian hemp also known as marijuana to members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Ndimma, who hails from the Orsu Ihitte-Ukwa community in the Orsu Local Government Area of the state, allegedly supplies the illicit product to IPOB and ESN members in their camps in Imo.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro,  said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a major supplier of marijuana to all IPOB and ESN camps across Orsu local government areas and its environs.

Yaro added that the suspect who has confessed to the crime was arrested in his home in the Orsu Ihitte-Ukwa community following a tip-off.

The police boss said that the suspect would be charged to court after investigations and urged Imo people to continue to provide adequate information to the police to combat crime and criminality in the state.

The police boss listed Items recovered from the suspect to include over 50kg of Indian hemp and the sum of N430,000 being profit from his recent sales of the illicit product.
