Etisalat Nigeria has concluded arrangement to unveil its new name to be called 9Mobile.
The decision on the new name was taken in Lagos yesterday, July 13 during an executive meeting where the problems plaguing the troubled telecoms company and how to stabilize it were discussed.
Per Second News exclusively gathered that the new name is 9Mobile.
Armadanews.com gathered that at the executive meeting the name 9Mobile was adopted and all staff of Etisalat across the country told to be on stand-by for the change of name.
Although the telecoms company is yet to unveil the new brand to the public, sources said “that will be done soon.”
Etisalat has up to 20 million subscribers or 14 per cent market share making it the fourth largest telecommunication mobile provider in the country after MTN, GLO and Airtel.
“Our mandate is to make sure the business runs as profitably as it can. What is most important now is to ensure that the business runs and meets its obligations,” the company’s new chief executive Boye Olusanya said on Tuesday, July 11.
Hatem Dowidar, CEO of Etisalat International, disclosed early in the week that the Nigerian partners have been given three weeks within which they should change the name to something else.
