Lagos Cancels Vacation School

Public and private secondary and primary schools in Lagos State may not be able to hold their planned vacation school this year for fear of insecurity.

The government had therefore warned the management of the schools on the dangers of going ahead with the holiday schools going by the spate of insecurity in the state now.

Almost all secondary and primary institutions in Lagos State engage in the vacation school for one reason or the other but primarily to prepare students and pupils who have external examinations like WAEC, NECO FSLC to write months after the new session resumes in September.

Armadanews.com learnt that all the public and private secondary and primary schools in the state had been communicated on the latest developmment.

While some have shelved the idea of the holiday school others are weighing other options which may include how to provide additional security measures for the students and pupils should thry go on with the holiday school.

Many schools in Lagos have fallen victims of kidnap of their students of late.

Some students of a secondary school in Epe who were kidnapped barely two months ago are yet to regain their freedom despite all the efforts security operatives have put in searching for them.

Government source said they are no longer ready to take chances.
