Heavy rains in Lagos and Ogun States have continued to displace residents of both states with the latest on Saturday, July 22 being unprecedented.

Though the Lekki, Aja, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and other parts of the city on that axis got a feel of the devastating flood last week, it was the turn of residents on the mainland this weekend with Surulere, Okota, Mushin, among others being sent out of their homes by floods.

In Surulere for instance, the floods exhumed all the debris which residents used in blocking the water channel, and with the water level caused by the flood, the entire environment looked like one big dirty water basin.

Movements; vehicular and foot were stalled made worse by the lack of movement directed by the state government due to the Local government election that took place on Saturday.

In Ogun State, particularly the Sango Otta axis linking the state with Lagos, the flood not only swallowed vehicles but ate up some houses that were on the water channel.

Residents of both areas were seen running helter-skelter to recoup whatever they could just as most of them were critised for using refuse to mess their environment which the floods excavated.
