Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, Obinna Ogba, has warned the technical adviser of the national teams, Gernot Rohr to lead the Super Eagles to success by ensuring that the team defeats the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in their coming encounter.
Ogba who is a former member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said all the financial assistance the NFF will need to motivate the adviser and the team to enable them emerge victorious would be provided.
He tasked Rohr and the entire Super Eagles team to ensure that they trash the Cameroonians in the World Cup qualifier billed for Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Nigeria next month.
Ogba said: “Let me commend Rohr for the good work he has been doing with the Super Eagles but all that will amount to nothing if the team fails to beat Cameroon in Uyo during the World Cup qualifier.
“The players know what is at stake and will do the right thing to be at the World Cup in Russia.
“On our part, we are working in liaison with the NFF officials to ensure that the team beat Cameroon to grab the group ticket for the World Cup.
“We are giving the NFF officials all the support they need to get the results that will see Nigeria’s flag fly in Russia.”
“I am confident that the Super Eagles will beat the Lions of Cameroon in Uyo next month and get a good result in Yaoundé in the second leg days later,” Ogba added.
Nigeria leads African qualifying Group B with six points from two matches, while Cameroon has just two points.
Both countries’ teams meet first in Uyo on September 1 and later in Yaounde on September 5.
