Four persons were confirmed dead on Sunday, August 13 as a storey building collapsed on Egbu Road, near Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
About seven persons were reported injured while six other persons were rescued alive.
The governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike promptly visited the scene of the incident to inspect the building and have an on the spot assessment of the damage.
Okorocha used the opportunity to announce the setting up of Building Commission, insisting on certifying all the buildings constructed in the state to ensure they are up to standard. He said the idea was to stop further occurrence.
Okorocha also said government will assist the survivals to continue with their lives.
