The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)  has cautioned against panic buying, insisting that the current scarcity of fuel in some parts of the country was a temporary issue caused by reduced depot load out in Apapa, which had already been resolved.

In a statement on Thursday, the company said it had resolved the current petrol shortages in parts of Lagos and South-west, adding that the fuel queues in the affected states were caused by reduced depot load out in Apapa in the last few days.

The NNPC said: “We assure all Nigerians that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days. Motorists are advised to desist from panic buying as distribution will normalisee over the next couple of days.”

The NNPCL said it acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians in recent days, particularly in Lagos, due to reduced depot load out in Apapa, Lagos, and assured that measures are in place to normalise the fuel distribution process.

“We assure all Nigerians that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days,” the statement from NNPC said, restating its dedication to meeting the nation’s fuel demands.

It also assured the public that efforts were underway to prevent any further disruptions in the fuel supply chain, even as it affirmed its commitment to providing ample fuel supply to Nigerians.
