Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is still gasping for unity despite the pretences by chieftains of the party in the state.

Evidence that there is still no love lost among the major players of the PDP in Imo State emerged weekend when Senator Hope Uzodinma held a meeting he claimed was aimed at reconcilling all aggrieved members but that saw such key persons staying away.

Armadanews.com learnt that the bone of contention has remained who should be accorded the leadership role and rallying point of the party in the state- Uzodinma or former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, former Governors Achike Udenwa and Ikedi Ohakim among others.

At the recently held non elective national convention of the PDP, Uzodinma was allegedly sidelined because of his link with the Ali Modu Sherrif-led camp which lost grip on the party following the judgement of the Supreme Court that recognised Ahmed Markafi-led committee.

A source close to Sherrif-led group claimed Ihedioha was part of those who did not want Uzodinma to have upper hand in the party in Imo and will not stop at anything to block them at the centre.

Apart from Cosmas Iwu, the state party chairman and few others loyal to Uzodinma, the likes of Ihedioha, Ohakim, Udenwa, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former House of Representatives member Mayor Eze among other PDP big guns in Imo were conspicuously missing at the socalled meeting to reconcile everyone.

The meeting claimed that party faithful from all the 27 local governments and all the PDP wards in the state were in attendance.

However, one of the PDP leaders in Orlu told this platform that Uzodinma called the meeting to galvanise his political ambition ahead of 2019.
