President Muhammadu Buhari will Monday morning, August 21 address Nigerian citizens following his return from medical vacation in London on Saturday, August 19. Time is 7 am.
Expectations are already high from Nigerians who said they look forward to cabinet reshuffle and other pronouncements from Buhari on how to alleviate the suffering and hardship they are going through.
Buhari spent 105 days in London treating yet to be disclosed ailment.
He had handed over power to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo as Acting President through a letter he transmitted to the Senate.
Buhari is expected to write the Senate again indicating his intention to resume work after his return.
Many Nigerians still think Buhari is not strong enough to work and so should resume and resign. But his party, the All Progressive Congress believes Buhari is strong enough to continue in office and even beyond 2019.
Tomorrow’s broadcast will see Buhari appreciating Nigerians for their prayers during his medical vacation and the need for them to continue to support his government hoping that the future is bright for the country.
“Any address that does not talk about change of some of his ministers will be useless. Some of the ministers are not up to scratch and should be dropped, ” one Adamu Ibrahim said.
However, feelers from the presidency indicate that Buhari’s broadcast will not dwell much on his cabinet but on how to collectively deliver on his promises to Nigerians during his electioneering in 2015 some of which have not been met.
