Buhari Warns Against Hate Speeches, Says Nigeria Must Remain One

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria must remain one and united despite the hate speeches by misguided Nigerians.

He made the comment this morning in a nation- wide broadcast where he said he monitored events in London when he was on medical vacation and wondered what informed such comments.

Security and unity of the country were the two major planks of the address.

Buhari who said he was distressed by divisive comments reiterated that the unity of Nigeria cannot be compromised, and that he would not tolerate the calls any longer.

He promised economic security and political evolution and integration and urged security agencies to reinvigorate the war against terror, Boko Haram, herdsmen attacks, kidnappings among other criminal acts across the country.

According to the President,  when late Biafra leader, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu visited him in 2003 in the wske of his presidential ambition, they discussed for two hours and thereafter agreed that Nigeria was better remaning one country.

Buhari’s broadcast which lasted for six minutes warned the social media to be more desist from publications that fan embers of disunity.

On restructuring Buhari challenged the National Assembly on the calls and warned that those making the calls must be wary of the dangers of dividing Nigeria with such calls.

He cautioned IPOB, Arewa Youths, and other ethnic based groups against acts that threatens Nigeria’ s peace and unity, adding that he would not allow irresponsible elements to destroy the unity of the country.
