On Monday morning, Evangelist Myke Ikokwu, the Nkwerre-born owner of the popular All seasons Hotel and other business outfits, was on Arise TV to tell the world what evils are being perpetrated by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.
Unluckily for him, the only evidence he has was an outdated picture of an alleged destruction of the parking lot of his hotel.
To compound his woes, he has the misfortune of meeting one of the brightest brains in the journalism profession.
Sadly, to the eternal disgrace of his pal, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Evangelist Ikokwu failed to provide a single evidence of the alleged maltreatment of the opposition in Imo State by Gov Uzodimma.
When versatile Rufai Oseni, proded him to provide an evidence of Uzodimma’s high-handedness, Ikokwu timidly resorted to Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, the fall Guy for every perceived evil done by the present government.
Well, like someone said, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri is a spirit roving anywhere there is a problem in Imo State.
Well, to be candid, Evangelist Ikokwu did not spend his hard earned money to just allow the Arise TV Crew to mess him up, no, it is part of a grand ploy by defeated opposition to rubbish one of the best credible elections in Imo State and Nigeria as a whole, and present Gov Uzodimma as a dictator who is intolerant of the opposition.
Recall that in some days before Ikokwu’s misadventure, former Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha exhumed a dead case to compel the Supreme Court of Nigeria to hang itself in a case that embarrassed the entire judiciary.
Of course the wise men of the bench declined to overturn Gov Uzodimma’s 2020 victory, but came hard on Ihedioha and his Attorneys.
This Ikokwu’s gafe is therefore not out of place but a carefully designed plot to destabilize the second tenure of the governor.
That is why Imo people must be vigilant as the inauguration draws near.
For the opposition, particularly the PDP, it should sink into your mind that no amount of mischief can derail the forthcoming inauguration of Gov Uzodimma which the Imo people graciously gave him in appreciation of his incontrovertible achievements in four years.
Gone are the days when Imolites are hoodwinked by propaganda by sons of Belial.
The massive support the governor has enjoyed which culminated in the watershed landslide victory, will remain indelible in the annals of the state.
Governor Uzodimma has done very well by reaching out to all Imo people to come over and take the state forward.
He has demonstrated this in various meetings with critical stakeholders despite their different political leanings.
Rather than show unnecessary musle, what Imo citizens expect the opposition to be honest by congratulating the governor and offer their hands of fellowship.
The governor by nature is a jolly good fellow who knows no discrimination.
Therefore Imo of the next level cannot be poluted by acrimony, bitterness and rancor which are the albatross of our former leaders.
Finally, Evangelist Ikokwu and his cohorts must desist from painting Governor Uzodimma and Imo people in bad light in the comity of civilized people.
That interview is a disservice to Imo people that are known for intelligent and good reasoning.
