Kenyan Runner Bernard Sang Wins 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

Thirty-two year – old Kenyan runner, Bernard Sang, on Saturday emerged the winner in the men category, in the 2024 edition of the annual 42km 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

Sang, the latest Kenyan to win the annual competition, will be claiming the grand prize of $50,000.

The Marathon has been dominated by the East African country who won in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021.

Sang’s  compatriots Cheprot and Edwin Kiptoo, who finished 2rd and 3rd respectively, will go home with $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.

Twenty-five year-old Ethiopian, Kebene Chala was the first woman to get to the finish line at the 2024 Lagos City Marathon, which had over 81 world-class elite runners competing for the top prize.

Shehu Muazu was the first Nigerian to cross the finish line and will be going home with a cash prize of N1million.
