The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has warned businesses participating in activities contributing to price gouging in the food chain sector, to desist immediately or face the full force of the law.
The acting Executive Vice Chairman of the agency, Adamu Abdullahi, gave the warning after the Commission sealed the Sahad Stores Supermarket in Abuja for price gouging.
ArmadaNews gathered that the FCCPC enforcement team will in the coming weeks, embark on massive sealing of businesses across the country including pharmacies and fast moving consumer goods that indulge in price gouging activities.
Price gouging is the practice of increasing the prices of goods, services, or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair.
Sahad Stores, Abuja was sealed during an enforcement exercise at Garki 2, Abuja, on Friday.
