UK Bans Foreign Health Workers, Caregivers from Bringing Dependents

The United Kingdom (UK), government has issued a statement banning international health workers and carers from bringing their dependents to the country on work visas.

In a post on the Home Office X account, UK Secretary of State for the Home Department, James Cleverly, said the move is part of plans to cut migration.

“From today, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas can no longer bring dependants,” the post read. “This is part of our plan to deliver the biggest-ever cut in migration.”

“Care workers make an incredible contribution to our society, taking care of our loved ones in times of need,” Home Secretary James Cleverly said.

“But we cannot justify inaction in the face of clear abuse, manipulation of our immigration system and unsustainable migration numbers.

According to an infographic placed on the account, “Banned: Overseas care workers from bringing dependants.

“120,000 people who arrived last year would no longer be eligible under our new rules,” it added.

It also stated that the announcement was made based on the economic downtown facing the UK, adding, the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has been trying to fix it.
