Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said he has never been a member of the cult and does not need to identify with cultism to deal with the menace.

Wike who  spoke to Channels Televion Hard Copy on Saturday, August 26 said he granted amnesty to cult members in Rivers based on the decision reached at the State’ s Security Council meeting.

He said the decision was supported by the army and that the state is better off with the decision as many dangerous weapons were mopped up from them.

He also noted that cultism is not restricted to Rivers state alone as the members are found in Ogun, Imo, Kogi and other states of the country where they fight war of supremacy.

Wike defended his claim that the police in Rivers promote crime and work with politically exposed persons from the state to cause problen, noting that instances abound when the police shielded heinous crime suspects because of the interest they are serving.

The governor reiterated his claims that his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi has been working to destabilise his administration, insisting that the idea was linked to 2019.

Wike who swore not to interfere in the government of his successor any time he leaves office said Amaechi had sworn to destabilise Rivers state during the regime of the People’s Democratic Party under his watch.

He challenged Amaechi to leave Rivers state alone and allow the indigenes to judge who is a better governor between the two of them in terms of provision of their needs.
