Hope Rises for Nigerian Students at Teesside University as FG Wades into Deportation Order By School

The Federal Government of Nigeria has intervened in the controversial deportation orders issued to some Nigerian students at Teesside University in the United Kingdom.

Already, a delegation led by Christian Okeke, Ambassador from the Nigerian Embassy in the UK, alongside leaders of the Nigerian Students Union in the UK, has been assigned to visit the Management of Teesside University to intervene on the allegations of unfair and unjust deportation order served on several  Nigerian students, in the middle of their studies.

The decision was taken at the end of a virtual meeting held on Sunday, between Chairman/ CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Representative of the Nigerian High Commission UK, Amb. Christian Okeke, President, Nigerian Students Union, UK, Mr Yemi Soile, and many of the affected students.

Dabiri-Erewa, had at the meeting, urged to the students to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands, even as she appealed to the university to treat the students with justice and fairness.

Some of the affected Nigerian students, recently staged a protest following the directives by the University management for them to leave UK on the allegations that some of them defaulted in paying their school fees.
