Forum Seeks Improved Service Delivery in Work Place

Improved service delivery holds the ace in ensuring development and growth of Nigeria’s economy on a sustainable basis, experts at the recently concluded  31st annual trainers conference organised by the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD) concurred.

Essentially, participants at the conference stressed that the nation needs to strategically adopt measures to upgrade the skills of the workforce in public and private sectors of the economy to achieve the desiredimproved efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

Specifically, the forum called for necessary schedules to enhance the skills of the nation’s workforce in areas of digital operations, in line with developments around the globe.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs .Didi Esther Walton Jack, who was represented by Mr. Alabo Adeyemi, a Director in the Office of Head of Service of the Federation, disclosed a scheme has already been put in place to achieve a more vibrant workforce in the country’s civil service.

According to Jack, “the primary objective Is to equip civil servants with the relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes required to effectively formulate and implement government policies and programmes. I am therefore pleased to announce our renewed focus on learning and development initiatives designed to equip our civil servants with the skills and expertise needed to strive in this new era”.

The President and Chairman of Council, NITAD, Mr. Bullos James noted that the this year’s conference is apt due to the importance of using technology in service delivery. Everything that you want to achieve today with ease has to go through digital space.So,as trainers, we need to have these digital skills that will help us in carrying out our function as trainers and that is why we bring together all the trainers to come and learn from industry experts on how to really utilise digital skills to get things done with ease.

One of the keynote speakers at the event, the Emir of Wase, Dr Mohammed Sambo, highlighted some key strategies that could drive growth and development of any organisation.“By implementing these strategies, organisations can harness growth, learning and development through innovation, productivity and success.

Harnessing Nigerian human resources for growth and development requires a multifaceted approach that addresses education, skills acquisition, healthcare and economic opportunities” the monarch stressed.

Another keynote presenter at the event, who is theGeneral Manager, Microsoft, Nigeria and Ghana, Mrs Oluwatomiwa Williams explained that learning and relearning are key to organisational development. “So, we will explore why learning and development is crucial for success in digital age and how it can help to drive individuals and organisational growth and capability”.

The conference, with the theme “Learning and development, the key to thriving in a digital world” had attendance participants drawn from both public and private sectors of the economy.
