President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of former Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) Professor Dibu Ojerinde for allegations of embezzlement of funds which accrued from the agency.

Also, the president has mandated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which was already investigating cases of fraud leveled against the immediate past Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency(NIMASA) Patrick Akpobolokemi to bring the case to logical conclusion.

Buhari gave the directives during the Federal Executive Council(FEC) meeting on Wednesday, September 13 at the Presidential Villa.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun who hinted about the president’s directive said that the highest amount which JAMB has remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Account during the tenure of Ojerinde was just N3million as against what the new management led by Ishaq Oloyode had remitted since coming on board, N5billion. Adeosun said apart from the N5billion the new JAMB board had remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Account another N3billion has accrued and waiting to be remitted into the account.

Adeosun said that similar leakages were also observed in NIMASA where the funds generated in the past were at variance with what their new management have been remitting to the common treasury.
