President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to the country after a stopover in London. The President’s aircraft touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja Monday, September 25 evening.
Buhari had left the country on Sunday, September 17 to attend the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
While addressing world leaders at the gathering on Thursday, September 21 last week, he assured the international community of Nigeria’s unshaken commitment to democracy.
The President had also asked the leaders to join forces to overcome growing global threats such as terrorism, modern-day slavery and cybercrime among others.
Meanwhile, the Presidency had hinted before he left the country that President Buhari would travel through London on his way back from New York.
Although the reason for the stopover was not disclosed, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had said the trip would not exceed its scheduled timeframe.
