Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has opened the first DNA and Forensic Centre in Nigeria and West Africa. The centre is located in Lagos and the commissioning took place on Wednesday, September 27.
Ambode told his audience: “I am therefore convinced that the establishment of the Lagos DNA & Forensic Centre will improve the speed and quality of evidence collected to assist our Courts in the quick dispensation of justice. This centre is a definite boost for our administration’s Justice Sector reform programme.
It shows that our covenant with Lagosians to create a safe and secure State is being kept.”
With those words, the door of the laboratory was flung open amid excitement on the faces of those who work in the criminal justice system like the police, prisons and judiciary.
