In what looks like a tacit rejection of the second term presidential ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, leaders of his All Progressive Congress (APC) in South West have said anyone keen on running for the office is free to do so.
The South West APC leaders rose from their meeting on Thursday, October 12 in Ibadan, Oyo State and encouraged those interested in the office of the president in 2019 to come forward with or without.
They said Buhari has not communicated to them that he is still interested in running, advising that those who have the capacity to run around for the rigourous presidential campaign to come forward.
Leader of the group, and former governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande made the position of the south West known.
All the South West APC governors, their ministers, Senators, House of Representatives principal officers from the zone attended the meeting.
But the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu was absent with Akande informing his colleagues that Tinubu reported ill with stomach ache.
