Students stranded as Polytechnic teachers go on strike

Polytechnic students across the country were stranded on Monday as their teachers made good their threat to ho on strike.

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics resolved at the weekend to embark on nationwide strike citing government’s failure to heed agreement it reached with the in 2016 on their welfare.

The ASUP said the strike would commence on Monday, November 13.

Almost all the schools monitored on Monday reported they had joined the strike with the students complaining they were stranded.

Students of the Polytechnic Plateau and the Yaba College of Technology were seen in their classrooms all alone with those of them in the final year complaining that the strike would affect their examinations.

They also begged the Government to deal with the issues that caused the strike in their interest.
