Among the early people who turned out for accreditation were Obiano and his wife who were joined by a large supporters as well as the APGA national Chairman, Victor Oye.

There was adequate security within Anambra as well as at the different borders of the state.

Police had deployed their aerial surveillance helicopter at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu while the soldiers carried out intensive search at the Onitsha/ Asaba entry point of the state.

Election monitors said they were satisfied with the distribution of electoral material by INEC and hoped the exercise would be free, fair and credible all the way.

But one area of concern was that the Youth Corps members trained by INEC for the election were later pull out with nobody knowing exactly what role they were assigned to.
