INEC Declares APGA’s Obiano Winner of Anambra Governorship Poll

8The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  on Sunday declared candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Willie Obiano winner of the Saturday governorship election in Anambra State.

Obiano pulled 234, 071 votes to defeat the other 36 candidates.

His closest rivalry, Tony Nwoye of the All Progressive Congress (APC) got below 100,000 votes. Oseloka Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) got below 75,000 votes.

Total votes cast during the exercise was 448771 according to the INEC chief returning officer.

Obiano won the highest number of votes cast and was able to score 25 percent in two thirds of the local governments in the state.

Anambra has a total of 21 local government areas.

The INEC chief returning officer  who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar,professor Zanna Akpagu pronounced Obiano winner of the election and that he satisfied all the conditions required to be so declared by the Commission.

APGA National Chairman Victor Oyeh said he was excited over the victory  and that Obiano’ s victory was confirmation of God’ s prophesy .

He said he is confident Obiano will take Anambra to the next level.

National Secretary of APGA, Labaran Maku said APGA is getting stronger by the day.

Former national Chairman of the party and Chairman of Obiano reelection campaign said Obiano delivered on his promises during his first fours in office and will do better in his second term.

He said APGA’ s victory in the Anambra governorship poll is a statement that the people take note of hate speeches that add no value to fair contest.
