Finance minister Kemi Adeosun has defended recent suspension from office, of the Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission, Muonir Gwarzo.

Adeosun spoke to the media in Abuja on Friday, explaining that Gwarzo eas sent parking over corruption related matters and abuse of office that had the capacity of affecting the market negatively.

She dismissed insinuations that the forensic probe of Oando PLC was reason for Gwarzo’s suspension, noting that  the decision to suspend the former SEC’s boss was taken after he sent a response to a query to explain allegations against him were found unsatisfactory.

One of the allegations which Adeosun adduced agzinst Gwarzo was the award of contracts to firms related to him against the market rules.

After Gwarzo was suspended some people said it was because of his approval for the Oando forensic probe.

Many alleged that Adeosun has interest in the Oando ordeal with SEC, the reason she tried to compel Gwarzo to just sanction the oil and gas firm without involving the forensic process.

On Tuesday, Oando shareholders at their meeting in Port Harcourt met and advised President Muhammadu Buhari  to gire Adeosun.

They reasoned that the minister was economic with the truth regarding Gwsrzo’s suspension.
