Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has apologised to his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom over a comment Lalong was credited to in relation to the herdsmen killings in Benue.
Lalong was said to have told reporters in Abuja when he met with President Muhammadu Buhari that he warned Ortom over the herdsmen bill.
Ortom was taken aback on Lalong’ s claim insisting there was no such conversation between them.
But gripped by guilt on what he said when every other person was sympathising with Benue over what befell the state recently, Lalong called a news conference in Abuja on Sunday to apologise to Ortom and the people of Benue over his comment.
Though Lalong said he was misinterpreted, he however added that tjis is not the time to apportion blame due to the lives that have been lost in the state.
He reiterated that Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa remain related and said he would pursue matters that will inure rather than divide them.
