President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, December 24 said militants threatening the peace of the country around the North East have been completely routed.
The President was briefed by the Chief of Army Staff , Lt. General Tukur Buratai that the Army’s Operation Dole in Maiduguri has successfully dismantled the militants stronghold at the Sambisa Forest where Boko Haram had held sway since 2009 when they first struck.
Buhari was most grateful to the Tukur-led soldiers for their commitment and dexterity, and assured Nigerians that the Boko Haram insurgents they saw before they will not see again.
Buhari’s spokesman who collaborated the President ‘s comments on the fall of the militants Base during a television programme said on December 22 the army authority reported that the Camp Zero in Sambisa Forest had fallen never to rise again.
Buhari urged Nigerians to continue to have fate in his anti terrorism policy, pledging to serve with commitment as far as security of lives and property of Nigerians is concerned.
Almost immediately news of the fall of Sambisa Forest filtered into town in Borno State live returned to the popular Maiduguri night market with the residents and traders celebrating the moment.
Some of them said the market was coming alive after almost seven years of Boko Haram threat.
