Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has washed his hands off the secret plot to impeach his deputy, Eze Madumere any time from now.
It was widely reported that Okorocha’s wife, Nkechi, his son inlaw who is his chief of staff, Uche Nwosu and other surrogates to the first family were working on the impeachment of Madumere as the only way to pave the way for Nwosu’s governorship ambition.
Okorocha endorsed Nwosu recently against the wish of popular All Progressive Congress members and leadership who want a level playing field for the governorship contest.
Madumere is favoured to pick the ticket if a transparent primaries is held having come from the zone that ought to produce the governor.
Nwosu comes from Orlu zone like Okorocha who would be vompleting eight years in office next year.
APC leadership wants Owerri zone to produce Okorocha’s successor.
The governor’s wife wants to ensure Madumere is removed fearing his popularity keeps rising and that his continuing stay in office will undermine Nwosu’s chances.
But Okorocha has denied such plot.
He did through a statement by his media aide Sam Onwuemeodo.
Okorocha said the timing if there was anything like that would be counter productive and politically unwise.
