The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as a huge loss to Nigeria, the death of Adamu Ciroma, describing the deceased as a patriot, distinguished bureaucrat, elder statesman, front-line journalist and astute politician whose contributions to deepening democracy and national development will be long remembered and celebrated.
Indeed, the country has lost a brilliant mind and a man of proven integrity, the APC said.
“In politics, the private and public sector, the late Adamu Ciroma distinguished himself. The APC fondly recalls his distinguished tenures as first indigenous Editor and Managing Director of New Nigerian Newspaper and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),” APC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi said in a statement on Friday.
He added: “In public service, we celebrate the late Adamu Ciroma’s exemplary work as a minister during the President Shehu Shagari administration, particularly the implementation of the president’s agenda on food production aptly tagged the Green Revolution.
“In the struggle to entrench democracy in the country after the cessation of military rule, the Party recalls the late Adamu Ciroma was one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), going on to serve as Minister of Finance.
“While the Party condoles with the government and people of Yobe State over the passing of the late Adamu Ciroma, we pray Almighty Allah grants him rest and equally grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
