The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday recalled his experience when he visited Benue State and expressed regret over the mindless killings of people by suspected Fulani herdsmen there and in other parts of the country.
Adeboye and his wife, Folu, made recently visited Benue to condole with Governor Samuel Ortom and pray for the government and people of the state over the killings by suspected herdsmen.
Adeboye told a gathering that he did not visit Benue before President Muhammadu Buhari so that politicians would not read meaning into his action.
He said Benue was dear to his heart adding that he wept when he saw the people weeping.
His words: “Of course, no man of God will see a mass burial anywhere and not feel the pains of the people affected.
“We want these killings to stop. Happily, we know someone who can stop it.
“He is the Almighty God, He does not fail or compromise, He is the God of all.
“We will continue to call on Him to fight this battle and you can be assured that victory will be certain.”
Governor Samuel Ortom lamented the incursions of herdsmen into the state, the deaths of many, and the attendant huge humanitarian crisis it had left behind.
Ortom appealed for prayers for his government and people of the state.
“Given the enormous challenge the crisis posed to the well-being of the people of the state, we urge for prayers,” he appealed.
