Adoke’s bail application suffers set back

Mohammed Adoke, Nigeria’s former attorney General and minister of justice is to remain in the cell of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission till January 2 as his application for bail has been refused.

Adoke is being detained by the EFCC in connection of Malabu oil deal worth $1.8b.

A court granted the EFCC the right to detain Adoke for 14 days, that is till January 2 for further interrogation before he could seek application for bail.

But on Tuesday, December 31 he headed for the court but the vacation judge at the federal capital territory , Abuja turned the request down on the grounds that the court order on his detention had not elapsed.His application was sent to the Chief Judge who will now reassign the matter on January 2, 2020.
