Nigerian afrobeat star, rapper, singer and songwriter, Mohbad has died. His death was confirmed by industry authorities on Tuesday evening. He was 27.
Mohbad whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba, was confirmed dead by Ovie Ofugara.
Confirmed. Mohbad is dead. Sad, sad day,” the Not Just Ok boss wrote on his X account, sharing a broken heart emoji alongside the tweet.
Also, YBNL Music Executive and singer, Olamide Gbenga confirmed Mohbad’s death via his X handle on Tuesday, when he took to the platform to mourn Mohbad. He wrote: “Damn! Mohbad”.
The news of his death went viral in the social media platforms yesterday but details of his death are still sketchy as of the time of this report.
Sources said he was taken to a private clinic after he took ill and died shortly after he was admitted in the hospital.
Mohbad was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” and left the label in 2022.
He is best known for his hit singles Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) with Rexxie which was nominated three times for The Headies awards 2022.
His colleague Akinbiyi Abiola better known as Bella Shmurda said Mohbad had in the past reportedly wanted to commit suicide.
