Diran Makaya area of Zamfara state under the firm grip of criminal bandits came under military bombardment at the weekend.
The Nigerian Airforce took up the challenge of going after the bandits who have held residents of the area hostage for some time and recorded substantial successes.
Reports from the military indicated that many suspects were taken during the operation with some casualties recorded and others dislodged.
The people of Zamfara and other residents having been leaving in fear sibce the bandits have been inflicting unexpected attacks on them, in most cases leaving scores dead and wounded.
President Muhammadu Buhari has had cause to complain about the activities of the bandits in Zamfara and had admonished the military to deal with the situation.
