Senator Godswill Akpabio has formally defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
At a massive crowd in Eket , in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on Wednesday witnessed by some leaders of the APC, Akpabio said he was joing the party to bring uncommon change to his constituency, state and South South region.
He said he believes in the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari and those who are sincere in ensuring that the best is given to Nigerians.
Akpabio said he was not under pressure to join APC as speculated in many quarters, noting that he has no case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
National Chairman of the party Adams Oshiomhole and National leader of the party, Bola Tinubu were among the dignatories who watched Akpabio’ s defection.
Akpabio was a commissioner in Akwa Ibom before becoming the governor where he served for eight years.
He has also been a senator for more than three years.
In all the positions he was a member of the now opposition People’s Democratic Party which he and most APC members describe as a citadel of corruption.
He was until August 4 when he resigned his position the PDP senate minority leader.
