Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio has said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has for long served as an ATM to many people
Akpabio also said mismanagement of the Commission was the reason it has not been able to achieve much since its establishment.
Akpabio who was speaking on the NTA Saturday Weekend file said the approval for forensic audit of the NDDC had become necessary for Nigeriansto appreciates the level of mismanagement that has been going on in the place over the years.
He said he was not ready to call out people who managed the affairs of the Commission but noted that the forensic audit will deal with the issue.
The minister also reveàled that he has revoked some of the contracts awarded by the Commission which he said had led to his receiving threat calls of late.
Accordingto him, he has the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that NDDC lives up to the reason for its establishment which is to ameliorate the sufferings of the Niger Deltans.
