Algeria beat Senegal by a lone goal on Friday in Cairo,Egypt to lift the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Baghdad Bounedjah scored a freak goal in the third minute when his shot took a huge deflection off Salif Sane and looped over goalkeeper Alfred Gomis.
It was Baghdad Bounedjah’s early goal that propelled Algeria to a first Africa Cup of Nations title in 29 years.
Senegal, who have never won the competition, were awarded a penalty for handball in the second half but it was overturned after a VAR review.
Algeria closed out the rest of the game to win their first title since 1990.
Senegal dominated for large periods but struggled to make the most of their possession.
Friday’s finals made it Senegal’s only second appearance in the final since 2002.
