Three suspects believed to be the brain behind the kidnap of employees of Dangote Group have been apprehended by the police, the authorit6ies have claimed.
The police said the suspects kidnapped five expatriate workers of the Dangote Group.
Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Don Awunah said Tuesday, December 6 that the suspects were arrested between Sunday, November 27 and Saturday, December 3 by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and that they have confessed to crime.
The suspects, he said, have also confessed to the murder of Istifanus Gurama, another Dangote worker who transported a N5.6 million ransom to them for the release of their victims.
The kidnap victims were said to have been set free after the suspects collected the money.
Awunah gave the names of the suspects as Abubakar Gide (24); Abdullahi Salihu (22); and Babuga Adamu (25).
Gide was arrested in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun state, Salihu and Adamu in Epe Forest, Lagos State and Ajase Ipo Forest in Kwara State respectively, according to the police.
The suspects, the police stated, led the IRT operatives to Apoje River where the body of Gurama was recovered.
The police authorities also said they have also recovered three AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines and 160 rounds of ammunition from Ijebu Igbo Ogun Forest, believed to be the gang’s hideout, noting that efforts were on to arrest other members of the gang.
