Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, may have dumped his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Accord Party.

News of his defection was announced on Twitter by a handle (@ogun_state), citing the state owned Ogun state television as its source, but it has not been officially confirmed.

Amosun, a supposedly ally of President Muhammadu Buhari was among the APC governors who allegedly demanded for Adams Oshiomhole’s removal as the national chairman over the way he handled the party’s primaries.

Amosun recently threatened to quit from the APC if the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party led by Oshiomhole fails to uphold his preferred governorship candidate, Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade.

Amosun  reportedly issued the threat during a meeting with some party leaders and his loyalists across the 20 local government areas of the state, held at his private residence located inside Ibara GRA, Abeokuta during the week.

The governor is believed not to be getting a favourable response from Buhari that Akinlade should be preferred to Dapo Abiodun, the candidate whose name the APC NWC has recognised.

Until Friday when the news was tick that Amosun had joined the Accord Party, it was not known which platform he was discussing with.
