The Court of Appeal in Owerri has restored the candidacy of Sir Frank Ibezim as the duly elected candidate to fly the flag of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Imo North senatorial bye-election that comes up tomorrow, December 5.

With the ruling, Ibezim replaces Ifeanyi Araraume who had earlier gone to the Federal High to obtain a judgement that declared him the candidate in the senatorial election.

Ibezim had appealed the ruling of the Federal High that said Araraume will fly the APC flag and the court reserved ruling till today (Friday), December 4, when three Justices of the Court of Appeal in a unanimous decision set aside the earlier ruling of the federal high court given on November 6 in favour of Araraume.

The APC had their grand finale rally at Okigwe stadium on Thursday where Governor Hope Uzodimma said the era when politicians go to procure “jankara” court orders to truncate the wish of the people is over in Imo State.

He said Ibezim was duly nominated by the APC and elected through a transparent process that was supervised by the party leadership at the centre.

At the rally, the governor presented Ibezim once more to the people as the candidate of the APC and called on the people of Okigwe to massively vote him in come Saturday, December 5.
