Saraki’s Trial

Nigeria’s Court of Appeal in Abuja has ordered the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to face trial on three count charges in respect of alleged false declaration of his assets.

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday, December 12, dismissed 15 out of the 18 counts of false assets declaration instituted against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The three member Court of Appeal led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson had unanimously directed that the Senate President returns to the Code of Conduct Tribunal to face trial.

Saraki has been facing trial on false assets declaration, but he has worked hard to ensure that the trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal is frustrated.

Regardless of the ruling of the three member Justices, Saraki’s legal team said it has concluded plans to appeal the three charges at the Supreme Court.
