Two term governor of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Attahiru, Dalhatu Bafarawa has pledged to further unite the party and Nigeria to the admiration of all if given the opportunity to be president next year.
Bafarawa is among the 13 aspirants seeking the nod of PDP delegates as the party goes for presidential primaries next month to choose its candidate for next year’s general election.
The former governor who was at the Lagos PDP secretariat was treated to a rousing reception by party members, delegates and executives, and was described by them as a “jolly good fellow” which the chorused.
Bafarawa took time to explain to the PDP members his journey in politics and business, advising the PDP executives not to allow themselves to be used by selfish political aspirants who will abandon them no sooner they got what they wanted.
He said he preferred to come and interface with the delegates and all party faithful so as to remind them that they are about to start a journey together where everyone is a stakeholder.
He noted that he has been a successful politician and democrat as well as a successful businessman, and that he has not come into politics to take from the people but to render selfless service as he has always done.
He said his track record in Sokoto is there to guide anyone who is still in doubt about his capacity to deliver, and insisted that he will replicate what he did in Sokoto in education and health care in other parts of the country if given the opportunity.
He regretted that a few democrats have been tarred with the brush of “corrupt” by the All Progressive Congress (APC), and added that in his case, the courts had absorbed him from the plot of the Buhari-led Administration to smear him.
Bafarawa told his supporters to keep fate with him believing that the PDP hjas all it takes to drive the APC out of office in 2019 if the right choice of candidate is made. He said that person is himself.
