Bala Mohammed, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party has win the Bauchi state supplementary election held on Saturday March 23.
Mohammed contested with the incumbent Governor Mohammed Abubakar of the All Progressive Congress.
Bala was coasting home to victory in the governorship election of March 9 when the Independent National Electoral Commission stopped the exercise and declared it inconclusive.
Bala was winning with a slim margin and was expected to have a comfortable win with votes from the Tafawa Balewa local government area believed to be his stronghold when the exercise was aborted.
In the rescheduled election of Saturday March 23 voters trooprd out en mass and cast their ballot with many routing gor the PDP candidate.
Results from the local governments already collated indicate that Bala has won but the INEC says the result will only be announced after the court case on Tafawa Balewa is vacated, perhaps on Monday, March 25.
But there are jubilation in Bala’s camp in Bauchi with the supporters saying mothing will reverse the victory.
