Governors of Bayelsa and Kogi States, their deputies and other important politicians in their states are to be stripped of their security details on the day of the governorship elections in both states.
That was the directive given by the Inspector General Police, Mohammed Adamu as part of measures tom bring sanity in the states on the election day in both states.
The directives had been communicated to them by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of operations, Abdulmajid Ali.
Ali spoke to reporters at press briefing in Yenagoa on Friday on the withdrawal of their men from the governor, his deputy and others.
“The IGP of police has directed that with effect from Friday 15th November, 2019, all security aides attached to the governors, their deputies and other public office holders, politicians and other personality involved in the elections in the two states be withdrawn until conclusion of the elections,” he said.
He also said the police had deployed a total of 66,241 of its personnel for the polls.
