Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari over the ongojng killings in the state and the need for Presidential intervention.
It was on a day the herdsmen killed two police men in Logo area of the state.
Ortom has strong conviction the herdsmen are enjoying protection somewhere in Nasarawa which the governor Al Makura denied.
Ortom told reporters he was confident Buhari would intervene as urgently as possible and that efforts should be made to identify and sanction those perpetrsting the lillings.
But Governor Tamko Al- Makura of Nasarawa has denied that his state was being used as shield for the herdsmen describing Ortom’s claim as unfortunate.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International has condemned the killings in Benuebsaying no less than 50 people had been killed since the beginning of the year.
It called on the federal government to urgently deal with the situation which it said is getting out of hand.
