The media centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja has been gutted by fire.
This is coming two days after the Headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Abuja went up in flames and barely nine days after part of the Treasure House, which houses the office of the Accountant General of the Federation was engulfed by fire.
Although details were sketchy as of the time of filing this report, a source said the office of INEC’s Director of Voter Registry was affected by the inferno, which started at about 10.30am.
According to the source, a team from the Federal Fire Service and and officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, who were quickly alerted succeeded in putting out the fire and prevented the building from being razed.
He said the cause of the fire was not immediately know and would be unraveled in the course of investigation.
