President Muhammadu Buhari has named a Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Edward Adamu, as chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Adamu replaces Muiz Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and legal adviser of the All progressive Congress (APC).

Banire’s replacement with Adamu was contained in a letter sent by the President to the Senate on Tuesday by Buhari which was read on the floor of the senate.

Banire’s removal was barely 24 hours Buhari appointed Muhammad Nami as chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and dropping Babatunde Fowler, who had hoped to be reappointed based on his relationship with the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu.

Until recently, Banire was another unrepentant follower of Bola Tinubu.

A letter soliciting reappointment which Fowler wrote to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha was turned down by Mustapha.
