President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in  London met with a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu in what many see as part of their ongoing meetings ahead of 2019.

It was also on a day Buhari told Nigerians that he would not let them down.

Buhari was speaking when he received in audience a group of Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom who are the Diaspora members of the Buhari Support Group.

The group had paid Buhari  visit to recommit themselves to his ambition and their willingness to support him ahead 2019.

Buhari and Tinubu have of late been meeting on issues relating to the APC and the latest one is not unconnected to the coming 2019 presidential election.

Buhari had declared his intention to run again and Tinubu had pledged his support contrary to earlier insinuations that they were quarrelling.

Buhari attended a colloquium recently to mark Tinubu’s birthday and the occasion was more or less turned into a campaign event for the president’s reelection.

After the colloquium Buhari reversed the tenure extension granted to the APC National Working Committee and their state counterparts by the National Executive Committee of the party thereby making nonsense of the agenda of APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun.

Tinubu and Oyegun have been having a cold war.

Tinubu’s continued meeting with Buhari is believed to be an attempt to render Oyegun irrelevant to the President ahead of 2019 and make Buhari have more confidence in the former Lagos State governor and his associates.
