President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, December 19, announced that the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) would be reconstituted.
With the announcement, the NDDC interim management committee led by Dr. Joi Nunieh will remain in office until the forensic report on the past activities of the Commission is out.
President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina in a statement said the re-composition of the new board would take place after the ongoing forensic audit of the commission which is entangled in alleged corruption web.
The statement said: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved that the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) be recomposed and inaugurated after the forensic audit of the organisation.
“The president has also directed that the interim management team of the NDDC shall be in place till the forensic is completed and that the supervision of the commission shall remain under the ministry of Niger Delta affairs.”
About two months ago the Senate screened the list of NDDC board sent to the lawmakers by Buhari.
The board, as earlier composed by Buhari, was to be led by Pius Odubu, former deputy governor of Edo state in the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.

The board, which has not been inaugurated, also had Chief Bernard Okumagba from Delta as managing director.
Others who were to serve in the board included: Maxwell Omo from Bayelsa who should have been an executive director in charge of finance and administration as well as Otobong Ndem who should have served as executive director for projects.
