Buhari yanks-off N-Power, SIP from Osinbajo’s office

President Muhammadu Buhari has removed the Social Intervention Programmes (SIPs)  from the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, signalling that sustained efforts recently to undermine the office of the vice president.

 

Buhari confirmed the removal on Tuesday, October 1, during his Independence Day broadcast to the nation.

 

Buhari said the action was taken to institutionalise, consolidate and build on the programmes which Nigerians know, was popularised by Osinbajo.

 

The SIPs  is now domiciled in the newly created ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development.

 

Buhari told the beneficiaries of the programmes –  Home-grown School Feeding Programme, Government Economic Empowerment Programme, N-Power Job Creation Programme, loans for traders and artisans, Conditional Cash Transfers to the poorest families and social housing scheme – that “government commitment to social inclusion will only increase.”
