Newly sworn-in Governor Mala Buni of Yobe state has taken a new wife, a day after inauguration.
Buni tied the nuptial knot on Thursday with the daughter of the immediate-past governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam, Ummi Adama Gaidam.
The marriage was lowly solemnized at the residence of the Gaidams at Sabon Fegi area of Damaturu, the capital of Yobe.
Ummi currently studying in Saudi Arabia, is coming as the third wife to the governor.
Daily Nigerian reported that insiders said it was Buni who sought the hands of Ummi in marriage, without initially the knowledge of her father, in order to strengthen their political relationship.
“The bales of kolanut were presented yesterday, and the wedding Fatiha took place today in the presence of a few family members,” said a family source who preferred anonymity.
Buni, was the immediate-past National Secretary of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and was anointed by Gaidam to succeeded him as governor.
